Four things are due before Thursday and one deadline outside school is closer than any of them. Estimated total 78 minutes — under your prep hours.

Copper block in water

AI mode: {{ modeLabel }}
Due tomorrow 08:30

A block of copper of mass 0.150 kg at 95 °C is dropped into 0.400 kg of water at 18 °C in a polystyrene cup. Specific heat capacities: copper 385 J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹, water 4180 J kg⁻¹ K⁻¹.

  1. Outline one assumption you must make about the cup. [1]
  2. Determine the final temperature of the water and block. [3]
  3. Explain why the measured final temperature is lower than your answer to (b). [2]

Four of your seven need 39–42 points, which is at or above your prediction, and only two have a route your family could fund without a loan you cannot get in Uzbekistan. If August results land at 37 you currently have two places to go. Add one UK course asking 34–36 with HL Maths, and confirm the Sabancı scholarship quota with T. Abdullayev before you count it.

What your 39 is worth, by system
UK. Offers are stated in IB points with HL grades attached — 39 with 7,7,6 at HL is read as broadly equivalent to A*A*A at A-Level. The HL subject condition is what fails people, not the total.
US. No points threshold. The transcript is read holistically alongside essays and references; most universities award credit for HL 6–7, typically one or two semesters, decided after you enrol.
AP. Self-studying one AP is only worth it for placement credit at a specific university you can name. It buys you nothing in a UK offer.
Your bonus points. Of your 39, up to 3 come from TOK and the EE together — so the EE you are drafting is worth roughly a whole HL grade.
Money — routes for Uzbek students
El-Yurt Umidi — state scholarship, degree abroad. terms vary by cycle · unconfirmed for 2027 · counsellor to verify
Need-aware vs need-blind — at a need-aware university, asking for aid can affect the decision. Only two universities in the world are need-blind for internationals in engineering at your level; neither is on your list.
Turin Polytechnic Tashkent — Italian degree, state fee, you stay home. Not a failure option: it is the only one of the seven you can afford with no external decision going your way.
Every figure on this page carries a source and a date. Where you see amber, the platform does not know and will not guess — it goes to a counsellor.

Two systems, two logics

UCAS and the Common App are not two versions of the same form. Filling one the way you fill the other is the most common expensive mistake made here.

UCAS · 4 courses

15 Oct / 14 Jan
One statement for all five choices. It is about the subject, not about you. An admissions tutor reading Engineering wants evidence you have done engineering thinking.
Offers are conditional on points. You will hold an offer in November and only find out in July whether you met it.
One academic reference, written by the school, not by five separate teachers.
Admissions tests for some courses — Cambridge Engineering sits the ESAT, registration closes before the interview.
ESAT 2027 registration window not yet published · flagged as uncertain · with T. Abdullayev since 24 Aug

Common App · 3 colleges

1 Nov / 5 Jan
One main essay plus a supplement per college. The main essay is about you — a reader wants to know how you think and what you have lived, not your syllabus.
Two teacher recommendations plus a counsellor letter, each written to that college.
Aid is a separate application with its own deadline, and at a need-aware college it is read next to your file.
Decisions are final in March, unconditional — your predicted grades matter, your final ones mostly confirm.
Deadlines source: each college's admissions page, read 18 Aug 2026

What this draft has not answered

AI · essay coach · three questions, no text
You write that you repaired the dormitory water pump. What did you not understand at first, and what did you do to find out? That is the paragraph an engineering tutor reads twice.
Paragraph 3 lists your HL subjects. Your transcript already says this. It is doing no work — cut it or make it argue something.
You mention your EE on thermal losses in a single clause at the end. It is the strongest evidence in the statement and it is buried.
There is no rewrite button, and there will not be one. A reader in Cambridge has never read about a water pump in a Tashkent dormitory. Written in your own English, that is worth more than anything a model would produce — and it is the only version that is yours.

They set the two temperature changes equal instead of the two energies

Eleven attempts break at the same step of part (b): ΔT for the copper is equated to ΔT for the water, which quietly assumes m c is the same on both sides. Four then averaged 95 and 18 to get 56.5 °C. Rung 2 unstuck seven of them; three escalated; one stopped at 23:12 without submitting.

“Does Rochester's need-aware policy count my father's state salary at the official rate?” — Amina Yusupova, 29 Aug. No sourced answer exists.

These are hours and silences, never content. You cannot see what a student wrote or asked from this panel, and no score is calculated. They are prompts to start a conversation. If a student's input suggests distress, the platform stops and hands them to a named person — it does not attempt counselling.
